1. Entries: The concrete pads at the back door have been
repaired.

Fire Equipment Inspection:
Has been completed in the kitchen.
Extreme Pressure Washing was hired to clean the ducts. Action: Paul will call John Shea Insurance to
tell them the work has been completed.
3. Platform: Larry recommended that the platform be
built at the end of the curling season to prevent a mess on the ice. Paul indicated that access would have to be
restricted and anyone ascending to the platform would have to be tied-off. . Action: Larry to see if work can be done sooner.
4. Ice-room
Ceiling: Will be insulated November
27th. Cost: $525 + tax.
5. Membership Books: Should be ready at the end of next week.
6. Front Doors: Will be installed this or
next week. Action: Paul will check on
time.
CORRESPONDENCE:
1. Trillium
Foundation: Is offering a seminar on fundraising on December 3rd. Deadline for registration is November 26th.

calendar. Action: Joan will check to
see if we have the revisions posted already.
3. St.
Thomas Energy: A breakfast will be
held at the club on Nov. 27th to show off our low-e ceiling to other
businesses in the city. Wayne Grosvenor
will be giving a 5 minute talk on our experience. Jim, Christine and Larry will attend on
behalf of the club.
4. Membership
requests: Donna Ellis has requested
her membership fees be refunded. Doris
Agnew and Ken Jones have requested their playing memberships be changed to
social memberships only. All have health
issues. Gregg Paisley will only be in
St. Thomas only one week of every 4 and wondered if he could have a partial
membership. Christine will recommend to
him that he can spare 3 times before Christmas and 3 times after and pay $12
each time he plays.
LEAGUE REPORTS:
Women: Jennifer reported that both
the Monday and Wednesday leagues are down 2 teams. Because of the chance of people tripping,
Jennifer requested that the equipment that is lying at the side of Ice 1 be
moved if possible.
Jennifer wondered if there is a club
policy regarding hand shaking with the threat of H1N1 around. There is no policy.
Friday Mixed: Numbers are up, with 18 teams (14 last
year).
Juniors: First day was last Sunday. At this point in time, there are lots of
coaches for the Little Rocks, but not sufficient for the Bantams.
Junior
Zones: Will be held at our club on Nov.21st . 4 teams from our club are competing.
Thursday Men: 22 teams.
18 members new to the league, 10 are new to the club.
COMMITTEES:
Safety: Nothing to report.
Bar: Sales up slightly from last year.
List
of Contact Numbers: Action: Paul will be create a list of contact
numbers and procedures for bar tenders to use in case of problems in the club
(i.e. plumbing, electrical issues). The
policy will be that if the chair and vice-chair
of the appropriate committee are not available by phone, the service provider will be called directly.
FINANCE: Utilities:
Water
usage is dramatically lower than last year (by $2000). The cooling tower is now circulating water
rather than using new water all the time.
Our
electrical usage is also lower but rates are higher and net cost is higher than
last year.
Curling
bucks: The bar has collected $1100
worth so far and has been reimbursed by the club. The membership committee will assess the
relative success of this promotion at the end of the year.
MEMBERSHIP: Motion:
Moved
Christine, seconded Shawn that 70 people whose names were circulated at the
meeting be accepted as members to the club. The names of the 94 people who did
not return were also circulated.
The committee will soon meet to
assess this year’s membership numbers and to discuss a membership drive to take
advantage of interest in curling generated by the upcoming Olympics. Hosting
another open house and running an Olympic themed bonspiel are being considered.
Unpaid
members: Cathy will give Tom the
list of the male members who have not yet paid and Joan the female, who will
then contact them.
ICE: Larry asked that if there are any complaints
about the ice please let him know. The
black wall at the north end of the ice needs to be painted.
Ice
room: 4-5 people have volunteered to
install insulation in ice room. No date
has been set to do the work yet.
Tools: Larry purchased tools for the ice
makers. Cost: $203.38.
Sign:
Bill to repair Elm St. sign: $393.05 to
be paid to Mark Jenner. The sign needs
to be checked regularly to keep track of its condition.
FACILITIES: Nothing more to report.
RENTALS: Nothing to report.
WEBSITE: Nothing to report.
OCA/Juniors: The Juniors of the 4 participating clubs will most
likely be allowed to run the 50/50 draw at the Brier.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. New Year’s Eve: A request that club
members be allowed to rent the club for New Year’s Eve was accepted.
2. New Horizons: A federal program has been introduced that
targets programs for Seniors. There is
$25,000.00 available for renovations and furniture upgrades. We have applied for among other things
stacking chairs, bridge tables, a new back door and keyless entry system. We won’t hear for 5 months whether our
application has been successful.
3. Building Accessibility: Action:
Jim will look into the proposal that we make changes to the club to
make it accessible to the disabled.
There are grants available.
4. Board Room: People who use the board room do not
clean up after use. Leaking garbage from
the bar has stained the rug. Action:
Joan will find out why garbage is put there and if there could be
another location for it.
5. Sunday Evenings: The Sunday Mixed league has been
disbanded because of low numbers. There
are 19-20 people taking Curling 101 until Christmas. Sunday evenings were offered to the
Oddfellows but they prefer to keep their Monday time slot. Consideration is being given to offering a
pay-as-you-go league for next year. Other ideas are offering another 101 after
Christmas or Curling 102. Perhaps a group would be interested in renting it on
a regular basis.
Bonspiel: Darlene Vance,
Joan McGregor and Gwen Roberts are planning on running the Sunday Mixed
bonspiel in January. Bonus bucks will be
accepted as entry fees.
The
meeting went in-camera.
The
meeting went out of in-camera.

this weekend and is full with 24 teams and has a waiting list. There is $1300
in sponsorship money.
NEXT MEETING: Wednesday, December 9th, 6:25 p.m.
MOTION FOR ADJOURNMENT: Moved Al, seconded Shawn that the meeting be
adjourned. Carried.
